Dental Bridges

A bridge is used when you have a missing tooth with healthy teeth on either side of the gap. A crown is created to replace the missing tooth and is secured in place by fixings attached to the teeth on either side.
Bridges look completely natural. If you care for your bridge with a good oral hygiene routine, it can last for many years, and in some cases, a lifetime.
Most people would never notice the difference between a porcelain crown and a natural tooth. When cared for correctly, crowns and bridges can last for many years and sometimes a lifetime.

FAQs for Dental Bridges
Why would I need a bridge?
Because you have had a tooth extracted or it has been knocked out by accident, leaving you with a gap. Obviously closing the gap is very important for cosmetic reasons, but your dentist will normally have a good clinical reason to fill in the space too. Leaving the gap open can put extra strain on the teeth either side. It can also affect what you are able to eat.
How long does a bridge last?
A dental bridge will normally last for many years, if properly looked after. A good dental hygiene regime is essential, luckily we have expert hygienists at our Ipswich dentist practice.
How do I look after my bridge?
We keep saying this but good dental hygiene is essential. The minimum would be to brush your teeth at least twice per day, normally at the beginning and end of the day. Flossing or inter-dental brushing is strongly advised.
