For this, you will receive three visits.
Appointment 1 – At your first appointment the Dentist/Hygienist will check and record your oral hygiene status and the dentist will come into the surgery to prescribe the whitening treatment by checking your mouth.
If there is any untreated disease such as cavities or gum disease it may not be possible to carry out the tooth whitening at this stage. If there are cavities then you would need to see a dentist and if gum disease is present a hygienist will advise a treatment plan.
There will be Alginate impressions taken of the upper and lower arches.
Appointment 2 – At visit 2 your oral hygiene will be checked to confirm it is of a good standard, with no bleeding gum or inflammation. If oral hygiene needs improving this will then delay the fitting of bleaching trays and will require another appointment at a cost of £30-60. If all is well the bleaching trays are fitted and the Dentist/Hygienist will go through the application of bleach into trays and will also go over any do’s and don’ts.
Appointment 3 – This is a short review appointment where the Dentist/Hygienist will assess the shade achieved and check all is going well and answer any questions.
(And you will receive four tubes of bleach supplied with this offer)

Your teeth are bleached by the application of the teeth whitening substance. The whitening procedure will first be carried out in the dental surgery, and then at home. This involves the use of 16% material called carbamide peroxide, applied in a custom made tray for a certain number of hours per day or during sleep, for up to 14 days.
Treatment is carried out by the patient at home, but GB Dental will monitor the process. Change is noticeable usually within two/three weeks but the process can be carried on for longer. Darker brown discolouration may take longer and may not change fully.
In some cases, a follow-up treatment may be recommended to maintain or enhance the results, especially if there are persistent stains or discolouration. Additionally, patients are advised to avoid consuming foods and drinks that can stain the teeth, such as coffee, tea, or red wine, during the whitening process. Regular dental check-ups are helpful to monitor progress and address any concerns. The whitening effect can last for several months to a few years, depending on lifestyle habits and oral hygiene practices.
